Obituary of William T. Burness

BURNESS, William (Bill) T.: A resident of Chatham, William (Bill) T. Burness died at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Monday, December 17, 2007 at the age of 82. Born in Chatham, son of the late Harry and Lily Burness. Beloved husband of the late Jean (Chadwick) Burness (2001). Loving father of Bart and Pat Burness of Toronto, Bill and Linda Burness of Alberta and Lynn and Paul Bowman of Chatham. Survived by several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Brother of the late Margaret Salisbury and brother-in-law of Ruth Chadwick of Vittoria and the late Helen Ward and Leslie Chadwick. Bill retired from Union Gas after many years of service in the gas industry as an engineer. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a past member of the Chatham Granite Club. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Service at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2007 from the Funeral Home with Bob McCall of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment of cremated remains in Maple Leaf Cemetery at a later date. Donations to Outreach For Hunger, the Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation appreciated.
