PIETERS: Donald “Don” Emiel A resident of Chatham, Donald “Don” E. Pieters died, on Monday, January 28, 2008, at Riverview Gardens, with his family by his side. Born in Tilbury, to the late Prudence (Deschuytere) & Theophile Pieters. Beloved husband of Betty (Taylor) Pieters for 58 years. Loving father of Bonnie Barnes & Gord Morrison of Chatham, Marlene & Stephen Publicover of Guelph, and Ruth Vanhumbeck of Chatham. Dear grandfather of Kellie, Megan & Len, Jocelyn, Deacon, Brittany, and Katelyn. Don is survived by his sister Elizabeth (Libbey) O’Kill, and brother in-law Bruce Moore. Predeceased by 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Don served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII from 1943-1945. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Congregational Church for many years. Don & Betty also enjoyed spending time at the Active Lifestyles Centre. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459, St. Clair Street, Chatham, on Friday, February 1, 2008 from 2:00-4:30 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Legion Memorial Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held for Don at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008, from the Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Margaret Moriyama officiating. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations made to The Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or St. Paul’s Congregational Church are welcomed.
