Obituary of Thelma Markham

MARKHAM, Thelma Cathren, a resident of Chatham. Thelma Cathren Markham died at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Monday February 4, 2008. Thelma was born on the 5th concession of Dover May 5, 1916, only daughter of Pete and Thirsa (Woods) Baillargeon. She attended SS#10 public school and later moved to Dover Centre and then Oldfield Community and from there to Wallaceburg for 17 years before making her permanent residence in Port Lambton. She was very active at Oldfield Church and was president of the USW for sometime and also president at Port Lambton Sunshine Club. Dear mother of Garda Markham, Chatham; Glenn & Betty Markham, Erie Beach; twin sons Gary Markham, Alberta and Garland Markham, Kitchener. Grandmother of Lee-Anne Markham, Peterborough; Cherie Land, Stratford; Caroline Countryman, Fergus; Carla Bushey, Windsor; Janelle Markham, Port Lambton; Craig Markham, Kitchener; Gregory Markham, Garrett Markham, Gene Markham, Alberta; Philip Markham, Switzerland; Janna Pretty, Chatham and Erica Pretty, Vancouver. Great Grandmother of Nicole, White Court, Alberta; Hanna, Fergus; Cory, Windsor; Keith and Brett, Peterborough; Caitlyn & Kamdyn, Chatham; Garrett, Alberta, and Braiden and Brianna, Ontario. Sister-in-law of Mrs. Joan Markham, Glencoe. Also remembered by one foster son Jim Blythe, Calgary, and one foster brother the late Joseph Stock. Thelma also leaves many neighbours and close friends, and special friends Cherie Vanthuyne, Chatham and the late Mrs. Lena Cadotte. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Friday February 8, 2008 from 3:00-5:00. The Funeral Service will be conducted at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Susan Woodhouse officiating. Cremation to follow with Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg at a later date. Donations to The Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre appreciated.
