Obituary of Harvey McKay

McKAY: Harvey W.SR, a resident of Chatham. Harvey Wilfred (Sr.), “one hellova pilot”, earned his final pair of wings on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham at the age of 86. Born in Orford Township son of the late Jack and Mabel (Sinclair) McKay. Father of Harvey (Jr.) & Angela McKay, Chatham; Gary & Rosanne McKay, London and Wayne & Marg McKay, London. Brother of June Songe, Detroit. Life long friend of Marguerite of Chatham. Harvey left the farm for the Air Force where he earned his pilots wings. Harvey brought that knowledge back to Chatham-Kent where he started one of the first pilot training schools in Southwest Ontario. He trained hundreds of pilots over the years with many still flying commercially today. His flight expertise included Commercial A class as well as license to instruct aerial acrobatics. Full of wit and charm, and daring enough to fly under the 5th St. Bridge, Harvey McKay was “one hellova pilot”. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
