Obituary of Theodore DeRooy

DeRooy, Mathew (Ted), a resident of RR. #1 Tilbury. With much sadness, yet grateful hearts, we share the loss of a loving husband, father, “pepe”, brother, uncle and friend who passed away on April 6, 2008 at the age of 78, just days before his birthday, after a long battle with kidney and lung disease. Dearest husband of Hazel (Marchand). Deeply loved father of Carrie (Roger) Sterling, Brian (Shirley) DeRooy, Mike (Christine) DeRooy, and devoted grandfather to Craig (Debra) Sterling, Kevin Sterling and Jennifer (fiancée Brandon), Kaylee and Deanna DeRooy. Son of the late Alphonse and Kristina (Koemen) DeRooy. Brother of Ed (Rowena) DeRooy and the late Rosalie (Ted) Hall. Son-in-law to the late Alphonse and Phoebe Marchand. Brother-in-law to Agnes (late Beverley) Bagnell, and predeceased by sister-in-law Jean (Hubert) Carson, and by brothers-in-law Russell (Judy) Marchand, Raymond (Kathleen) Marchand, and Leonard (Janet) Marchand. He will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Ted was an avid fisherman and hunter and will be fondly remembered by his many hunting and fishing friends. Ted was also a devoted curler for many years at the Chatham Granite Club. Cremation has taken place. In accordance with Ted’s wishes, friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Wednesday April 9, 2008 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. A Service and Celebration of life will take place at the Funeral Home on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Private Family Burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
