Obituary of H. Glenn Mitton

MITTON: H. Glenn, a resident of Chatham, Glenn Mitton passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance, on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the age of 84. Born in Thamesville to the late Leslie & Vergie (Graves) Mitton. Glenn is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 64 years, Ursula (Coggins) Mitton. He will be missed by his son David Mitton of Kitchener, his two cherished daughters Lesley Berry & her husband John of Nanaimo B.C., and Deborah Hooker & her husband Randy of Chatham. Glenn is remembered by cherished and much loved grandchildren Matthew and Shelby Hooker. He is also survived by brother Lloyd Mitton of Chatham, and special brother Lorne & Marjorie Mitton of Thamesville, along with four nephews, one niece, and brother in-law Bruce Coggins of Bristol, England. Treasured friend of John & Marjory Burgess. Glenn was a WWII veteran, serving overseas as a Flying Officer Bombadier on Lancasters. He was a member of the 411 Wing Air Force Association, Branch 28 Royal Canadian Legion, and longtime member of the Chatham Kent Museum Board. He was an avid dart player, winning many competitions up until last year. At Glenn’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. However, friends are welcome to gather for a Celebration of Glenn’s Life at the Branch 28 Legion, 304 St. Clair St., Chatham, on Sunday, April 13, 2008, from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Donations made in Glenn’s memory to the Lancaster Bomber Restoration are appreciated and may be left at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham.
