Obituary of Gilbert Haines

HAINES: Gilbert William, a resident of Chatham, Gilbert went to be home with the Lord on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the age of 79. Born in Chatham, on July 29, 1928, to the late William & Jenny (Rabideau) Haines. Survived by his loving wife Jackie (McDonell) Haines. Dear father of five children: Alana Peterson and her husband Murray, Colleen Nixon and her husband Paul, Karon Haines and her companion Randy Neuts, Janet Tiffin and her husband Tom, and Mark Haines and his wife Denise. Gilbert will be missed by his 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Gibby leaves behind two sisters: Isabel Manning and her husband Ralph, and Pat Gernaey and her husband Coyne. Predeceased by sisters June Hudson and Ida Prodenchuck. Gilbert was well loved, generous, gentle, passionate for his family, and well liked by anyone who passed his way. Gibby was a long time member of the Local Life Underwriters Association. A special thanks to the nurses and his friends at Copper Terrace and the doctors and nurses at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus, for their kindness. A Memorial service for Gilbert will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Christ Church, 80 Wellington St. West, Chatham, with Rev. Paul Millward officiating. Memorial donations made to the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome FM CFS Canada, the Post Polio Syndrome March of Dimes, or Charity of choice are all welcomed.
