Obituary of William E. Rapley

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of William Ernest Rapley "Bill" of Chatham on April 19, 2008 at the London Health Sciences Centre-Victoria Campus due to injuries sustained in a recent motor vehicle accident. Predeceased by his parents Dennis and Margaret Rapley (nee Abrams). Beloved husband of 50 years to Elizabeth Mary Jean (Jean) (nee Fraser). Much loved father of Becky French and Sandie and her husband Bernie Charbonneau, both of Blenheim. Proud Papa to six grandchildren- Jason, Patience (Patie) and Jaime French. Erin and Jeff Tewkesbury and Melanie Charbonneau. Survived by one sister Betty Nicholson (Clarence) of Chatham and brothers-in-law Alan Fraser and Kenneth Pratt Fraser and his wife Jean. Uncle Bill will be missed by nieces Margo Middelkamp (Jake) of Goderich, Shelagh Lawes (Dove) of British Columbia, Jill Hunter (Doug) of Wallaceburg and one nephew Danny Nicholson (Judy) of Goderich. Bill retired from International Harvester in 1981. He was involved for many years in Chatham Minor Hockey. Later he became involved with the Junior Golf Program at Indian Creek Golf Club. He enjoyed his time with the program very much- introducing 5 of his grandchildren to the sport. Bill will be sadly missed by his many golfing friends and coffee club members. Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home 459 St. Clair Street Chatham (519-351-2040) on Thursday and Friday from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held in the Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. Rev. Michael Brooks officiating. Interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
