GARROD: Jean. A resident of Chatham, Jean Garrod passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the age of 82. Born in Chatham, daughter of the late Percy and Marjorie (Grandbois) Prevett. Beloved wife of the late Harold Garrod (2004). Dear mother of Betty (Larry) Heather of Chatham, Bill (Karen) Garrod of Chatham, and Shirley Ann (Arthur) Marchand of Tilbury. Grandmother of Andrew (Heather), Phillip, and Matthew (Sarah) Marchand, Kevin (Christie) Heather, Robin (Marcus) McCracken, and Adam Garrod. Great-grandmother of Justise, Jacob, and Andrew. Sister of Tom (Connie) Prevett of Chatham, Beverley (Veronica) Prevett of Chatham, and the late Robert Prevett (Pauline Bromhill). Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Very special friend of Arnett (Rusty) Houle, Betty Lou Allan, and Gary and Theresa Livingston. Mrs. Garrod was a member of Girl Guides of Canada and had been a Brownie Leader. She was a veteran of WWII and served with the CWAC. She was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #28, and Chatham Baptist Church. She farmed with Kent Farms at Turnerville for 37 years. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 2:00-4:30 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held from the Funeral Home on Friday, May 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. James Tiffin of Chatham Baptist Church officiating. Cremation with interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chatham Baptist Church Memorial Fund, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, or the Lung Association would be appreciated.
