Okkema: Rita, a resident of Chatham, Rita Okkema passed away at home with her loving family by her side on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the age of 75 Born in the Netherlands daughter of the late Samuel and Ann DeHaan. Loving wife of Herman Okkema. Dear mother of Mark and Diana Okkema of Chatham, Sam and Marian Okkema of Arthur, Annette and Derk Pieterman of Chatham. Proud grandmother to Rachael and Cory Laidler, Darren and Trish Boersema, Daniel, Andrew, Shelley, Katie, Taylor, and Scott Okkema, Sam, Joe and Jessica Pieterman as well as five great-grandchildren. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Dear sister to Francis Neerhof and her late husband Joe of Owen Sound, Andy and Elaine DeHaan of Chatham, Cobie and John Fekken of Woodstock. Sister-in-law to Riem Vandermeer and her late husband Jap, Boukje Okkema and her late husband Age, Janke Jansen and her late husband Jan, Anne Okkema and Akke all of the Netherlands, Orval and Anne Okkema of Guelph, Trienke Okkema and her late husband Tjalling, Zus and Gooitzen Bijlsma Fedde and Jopie Okkema, Sietske Okkema and her late husband Haije all of the Netherlands. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held a Grace Christian Reformed Church, 255 Tweedsmuir Avenue on Tuesday June 3, 2008 at 1 p.m. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Chatham Christian School would be appreciated by the family.
