Obituary of Anna Hux

HUX: Anna May (nee Goldhawk). A resident of Ridgetown and formerly of Aldborough Township, Anna Hux passed away in her sleep at the Village Retirement Residence on Wednesday morning, June 4, a week after her 84th birthday. Born in Ridgetown, the daughter of Albert James Goldhawk and Mary Ann Eberle. Beloved wife of the late Martin Hux (1971), mother of Allan Hux and Denise Graham of Toronto, and grandmother of Ryan Hux. She is predeceased by her sisters Frances Simpson (Harvey), Mary Goldhawk, Edith Withers (David) and brothers Ernest (Dorothy), William, Albert and Donald Goldhawk. She will be deeply missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Joseph (Lois), Lyle (Margaret), Eberle (Elizabeth), Jean Goldhawk, Dorothy Hughes (Cam), Marie Goldhawk, Phyllis Hux (John) and Norma Hux (Arthur), and by her many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her many wonderful friends in Ridgetown and Rodney. Special thanks to her nieces Margaret Ann Granken and Kelly MacMillan, Dr. John Button, Dr. Elizabeth Haddad, and all the wonderful staff at the Village Retirement Residence for their support during her two year battle with cancer. Ann worked at P.D. Bates, Ridgetown, prior to marrying Martin Hux in 1947. She supported Mart in the Miller & Hux Poultry Farm along with her life-long friend, Donna Miller and her husband, Walter, Martin’s first cousin. Later she also worked as a legal secretary in West Lorne and Rodney. After the death of her husband, she returned to Ridgetown where she worked for six years at the Ridgetown Agricultural College as a house-mother in the girls’ residence. The Hux and Goldhawk families will receive visitors at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Friday, June 6, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held from the Funeral Home on Saturday, June 7 at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception for family and friends in the Friendship Hall of Erie Street United Church. Tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Foundation of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance-MRI Campaign or to Erie Street United Church.
