Obituary of Ella Brooks

BROOKS: Ella Margaret (nee Pickering) A resident of Chatham, Ella Brooks died on Monday, June 30, 2008, at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus, at the age of 88. Born in Harwich Township to the late Warren & Florence (Moore) Pickering. Beloved wife of Gordon Brooks. Loving mother of Linda Paolucci and her husband Pat of London, Shirley McColl and her husband Neil of Rodney, and the late Joanne Moore. Ella will be missed by her grandchildren Shannon, Wendy, Kelly, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Julie, Jared, Jordan, Steven, Cheryl, and Michael, along with her 7 great grandchildren. She is survived by sister Evelyn Warriner, brother Gordon Pickering and his wife Lena, and sister in-law Gertrude Pickering. Predeceased by sister Vera Galloway and brother Leonard Pickering. Ella enjoyed Old Time Square Dancing and was very proud to knit mittens for the Goodfellows every year. She was a member of Park Street United Church for many years and later St. Andrew’s United. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, at 1:30 p.m. from the Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Brooks officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Donations made in Ella’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of one’s choice are welcomed and appreciated by the family.
