Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Hore

HORE, Mary Elizabeth “Betty”: A resident of Chatham and former long time resident of Ridgetown, Betty (Pembroke) Hore died on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Meadowpark Nursing Home, Chatham, at the age of 91. Born August 28, 1916, beloved wife of the late William Hore (1994). Dear mother of Elaine Gannon of Calgary, John Thomas and wife Lorna of Orleans, and Mary Foley and husband Pete of Chatham. She will be missed by her grandchildren Lorne and his wife Tina, Chrissy and her fiancé Donny, Stephen, David, Kelli, Shannon, and William, and 2 great grandchildren Milan and Vienne. Predeceased by her brothers Earl James Pembroke of Chicago, Basil Pembroke of Boca Raton, twin sister Mary Catherine “Cae” Lupton of Nanaimo, and sister Bernice Pardo of Windsor. Betty was an active member of St. Michael's Parish , the CWL, and I.O.D.E. in Ridgetown and loved to bowl, golf, curl, and play bridge with “the girls”. Betty will be fondly remembered by family and friends and the staff at the Meadowpark Nursing Home, who came to know and love her over the last 15 years. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 17 at 11:00 a.m. from the Funeral Home, with Fr. Richard Saldanha officiating. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown. Memorial donations made in Betty’s memory to the Chatham Branch of the Alzheimer’s Society – Day Away Program are welcomed and appreciated by the family.
