Obituary of John Martin

MARTIN: Robert John, a resident of Chatham and formerly of Ridgetown, John Martin died suddenly on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance. Born in Chatham to Stella Marie (Cushman) Martin and the late Lawrence Milton Martin. Beloved husband of Margaret ‘Margie’ (Bourdeau) Martin. Loving father to his step-sons Doug Beemer & Krista of London, Danny Beemer & Janelle of Chatham, Greg Beemer & Kelly of Chatham, and special ‘adopted’ daughter Kandice Trachy. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Jesse, Sarah, Lily, and Haedyn Beemer, Zoe Ocean Trachy, and great granddaughter Jayla Beemer. Survived by brothers and sisters Jane Thoroughgood, Heather & Hank Miller, Joe Martin, Tim Martin, Tom Martin, Barb Martin, and Michael Martin. Many nieces and nephews also survive.John loved NASCAR and the Toronto Maple Leafs, but his real joy was the time he spent with his grandchildren, never missing a game of soccer or baseball. He was a member of Evangel Community Church. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2008 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. Funeral service to take place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Funeral Home, with Pastor Bill Pipke officiating. Cremation to take place. Donations made in John’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Chatham Kent Humane Society are welcomed and appreciated his family.
