Obituary of James McLean Currie

Currie: James McLean “Jim” A resident of Corunna and formerly of Chatham, Jim Currie passed away in the arms of his beloved wife on August 13, 2008 at the Blue Water Health Care Centre at the age of 75. Cherished husband and best friend of Ann Lynne (Layson) Currie. Born on September 18, 1932 in Newton Massachusetts, Jim was the dear son of the late James M. Currie II and Mary Jane (Totten) Currie. Proud and loving father of Cathy (Randy) Wade, Pamela (Joe) Pantelakos both of Wisconsin; Judi Currie, Jeffrey (Patti) Currie, Tim Currie and James Currie all of New Hampshire. Beloved grandfather “Papa” of six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Loving brother of Carolyn Campbell of Essex, Massachusetts. Jim will be dearly missed by his sisters-in-law Glennalee (John) Hatch and Lu-Ann (late Paul) Cowell. He was also a wonderful and caring uncle & great-uncle to numerous nephews and nieces. Jim was predeceased by his loving sister Barbara Lorraine Fitzgerald as well as his adoring mother-in-law & father-in-law Alfred and Madeleine Layson. Jim was a member of the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War. He completed his under-graduate and graduate degrees at Suffolk University in Boston Massachusetts in 1959. He worked as a Management Consultant for numerous Corporations before his retirement. Jim possessed a keen sense of humour and a zest for life. Always eager to help others, his many friends will miss his presence in their lives. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Jim’s life will take place at the Funeral Home 459 St. Clair St. Chatham on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Deacon Elaine Wilcox officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sarnia-Lambton Alzheimer’s Capital Campaign would be appreciated.
