Obituary of Robert McCaw Kearney

KEARNEY, Robert McCaw. Peacefully on Wednesday September 10th, 2008, on his 85th birthday, at the Village Retirement Home with family by his side, Robert McCaw Kearney made his journey to Heaven. Born in Alvinston, Ontario, Bob was the 4th child of Delmer and Flossie (McCaw) Kearney. Delmer moved his family of seven to Ebenezer Street in Ridgetown where he would open Kearney’s Garage. Bob decided that working in the garage wasn’t for him, so he convinced his father to let him try his hand at farming. They purchased a farm on the 11 concession of Howard and Bob would spend the next 50 years there. Bob married Ruth McLarty in 1945 (Deceased August 2007) and together they would raise their family on the farm. Bob continued his zest for life when he moved into Ridgetown and enjoyed a network of friends that he would visit often. He loved spending time at the Ridgetown Senior Centre singing with the Glee Club or travelling on bus trips. Bob is survived by his four children, Barry & Sandra Kearney, Thamesville, Ellen & Bob Tinline, Blenheim, Mary Beth and Wayne Cadotte, Chatham, and Delmer & Roseanne Kearney, Highgate. He is survived by 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Kristina & Mark Richards (Emma), Colleen & Jerry Janssens, Ryan Eastick & Katherine, Kyle Eastick & Jessica, Drew & Wendy Tinline (Blake & Jack), Brad & Shannon Tinline, James & Melanie McKellar (Julia), Stacey McKellar & Rudy, David Cadotte & Eleanor, Michael & Heather Cadotte (Logan & Carter), Adam Cadotte, Brian and Keith Kearney. Also survived by his extra special friend and travelling companion Marion Duffy and one sister-in-law Audrey Walters and many nieces and nephews. Bob is predeceased by his siblings Ted and his wife Mickey Kearney, Anna and her husband Fred Evans, Max Kearney and Doug Kearney and an infant grandson Stacey Tinline. Bob volunteered for close to 20 years at the Village Residence singing with the men’s club and doing door to door visiting. He is a member of Erie St. United Church, The Ridgetown Seniors Club, Branch 128 of the Royal Canadian Legion and was a veteran of the Canadian Army. Visitation for Bob will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Friday September 12th, 2008 from 2:00 – 4:30 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev.
