Obituary of Bernie Richardson
RICHARDSON: Bernard (Bernie). The family of Bernard Byron Richardson are sad to announce his passing on September 18, 2008. Bernie celebrated his 67th birthday this year. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Bonnie Patricia (LaRue) and their two children, Byron(Leean) Richardson of Ridgetown and Beth Anne(Mark) Schweitzer of Rodney. He will be greatly missed by his six grandchildren, Keith, Kyle and Matthew Schweitzer of Rodney and Rachel, Sarah and Tess Richardson of Ridgetown, all of whom he was very, very proud. His is also survived by two brothers, Wendell and wife Mae Atwood and Raymond and wife Phyllis Atwood and their families, all from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia area. His humour and quick wit will be missed by his in-laws Charlene(Harvie)Partridge, Mike(Linda)LaRue and Sandra(Malcolm)Tyrell and their families. Predeceased by his parents James (Barney) Richardson and Annie(Jewers) Richardson of Nova Scotia and his fathers and mother-in-law Francis "Nip" LaRue and Edna(Phair) and Bill Thorpe, and sister-in-law Colleen Ladacouer. Bernie worked for many years as a Millwright. First at KSR of Ridgetown before moving to Ventra Mfg. Ridgetown, retiring in 2004 due to ill health. In his younger years he was involved in many sports in the Ridgetown are including hockey and baseball. As he grew older (some say wiser and he said because he couldn't afford hockey sticks anymore) he took to a cheaper hobby, he took up golfing. Bernie and his wife were proud members the Blenheim Community Golf Club where he thoroughly enjoyed many years of hitting that little white ball and meeting some great friends. On most days you could find him cruising the golf course in his pride and joy "The Pope Mobile". Visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home "Ford Chapel", 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Monday from 2:00-4:30 p.m and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. Susan Jolley officiating. Cremation with interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown.
