Obituary of James Kenneth McConnell

McCONNELL: James Kenneth “Mac” A resident of Chatham, and formerly of the Tilbury area, James Kenneth “Mac” McConnell died suddenly at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Thursday October 9, 2008 at the age of 75. Born in Kingston, son of the late Oscar & Eileen McConnell. Best friend and companion to Louise Brodie of Chatham. Dear father of Mark McConnell & his friend Tabitha Arnold of Merlin, Laurie McConnell Borschke & her husband Ralph of Leamington, and fondly remembered by their mother Janet McConnell of Tilbury. Predeceased by one brother and one sister. Mac devoted 10 years of peacetime service to the Canadian Navy, and retired from Union Gas after 28 years in the meter shop. He was heavily involved in minor hockey as a player, coach, and in later years as a referee, and was a dedicated umpire for Chatham SloPitch for many years. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham (519-351-2040) on Friday 6:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturday 12:00-1:30 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Saturday October 11, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. Cremation to follow.
