VERKAIK: Geertruda “Gertrude” (Snel) A resident of Chatham, Gertrude went to meet her saviour surrounded by her family at Riverview Gardens, Chatham on Friday, November 14, 2008 at the age of 92. Loving wife of Maurits “Mike” Verkaik. Beloved mother of John Verkaik of Chatham, Mary Ann Dykema and her husband Wayne of Pt. Edward, Mike Verkaik Jr. and his wife Sandra of Chatham, Pauline Glassford and her husband George of Chatham, Henry Verkaik and his wife Tena of Chatham and Gary Verkaik of Chatham. Predeceased by one son Harry Verkaik (1997). Dear Grandmother of 19, great-grandmother of 35 and great-great-grandmother of 4. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Sunday, November 16, 2008 from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at First Christian Reformed Church on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Pete Burrill officiating. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Donations made to The Alzheimer Society or The Parkinson Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
