Obituary of Gordon Henry Shaw

SHAW: Gordon Henry, Q.C. Passed away peacefully on Dec 14, 2008, he will be sorely missed by Pauline, his wife of 55 years, and sister Helen McPherson, also of Ridgetown. A graduate of Osgoode Law School, 1951, Gordon provided valued counsel and consultation to Kent area clients through the mid 1990’s and was made Queens Council in 1980. Born in Ridgetown on May 24, 1927, he was a tireless contributor to the “Friendliest Town In Ontario” serving on the Ridgetown Public Schoolboard, as President of the Ridgetown and District Historical Society, the town Library Construction committee, Operation 74 Main St. Revitalization Project. He was a charter member and President of the Ridgetown Curling Club, and President & Trustee of the Ridgetown Golf and Curling Club. He was a member of the Kiwanis ‘Legion of Honour’, of the Howard Lodge, No.391 A.F. & A.M., as well as the Ridgetown Museum Board. In 1975 he co-authored the Ridgetown Historical Homes and Landmarks, Centennial Edition with Dr. H.S.Feagan and was the Editor of the 1983 RDHS Centennial Reunion Album. Predeceased by his son Duff, brother Neil, and sister-in-law Isabel Higgs and husband David. Gord is survived by Pauline, Helen, Edna(wife of Neil), daughter-in-law Kristi, grand-daughter Erin Kaye, son Hal and his wife Valerie, grandchildren Steve and Kelly, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation with interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown.
