Obituary of Douglas Howard Parry

Parry; Douglas Howard, a resident of Chatham. Douglas Parry died Friday December 19, 2008 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus at the age of 92. Born in Chatham son of the late Frederick James & Letitia (Burke) Parry. Beloved husband for 60 years to Barbara (Johnson) Parry. Dear father of Janet & Joe Plens, Mississauga; Philip & Anne Parry, Iroquois, Ontario; Paul & Donna Parry, Chatham; Blake & Cindy Parry, Chatham; Brent & Linda Parry, Dover Township and Pamela & Brian Ainscough, Orangeville. Proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Brother of Margaret Cameron, Kingston and the late Garfield Parry. Doug farmed all his life in Dover Township until his retirement when he moved to Chatham. He was a Member and Past Elder of New St. Andrews Church. He played hockey for Chatham and fast ball for Electric and Wallaceburg all Stars. Doug was a Member and Past President of the Chatham Granite Club, Past Member of Federation of Agriculture and the Tomato Board, Past President of Kent Farmers, and coach of the Jr. Farmer Girls team. Doug’s family send their heartfelt thanks to Lynn & Lori of CCAC and also to nurses Jenn & Sheila of Bayshore Home Care. Special thanks and appreciation to the caring nurses of ICU, progressive and palliative care at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Monday December 22, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted at Funeral Home on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Mark Aarssen officiating. Cremation with a family interment of the Urn in St. Thomas Anglican Cemetery at a later date. Donations to Charity of Choice or New St. Andrew’s Memorial Fund appreciated.
