Obituary of Loretta Niefer

NIEFER: Loretta Catherine, a resident of Blenheim and formerly Windsor and Leamington, passed away in Chatham on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Adam Joseph Niefer (1982). Loving mother of Catherine and Jack McCrae of Blenheim, Joanne Niefer of Charlotte, North Carolina, Dr. Richard and Mary Niefer of St. John’s Newfoundland, Mary Lou and Peter Machina of Windsor and Dr. Bernadette Niefer of Kanata. Proud grandmother and great-grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Survived by her sister Marie and Archie Rawlins of Essex. Sister-in-law to Mary Drummelsmith of Wallacetown, Jean Drummelsmith of Dutton and John and Anne Niefer of Leamington. Predeceased by her son Dr. Ronald Niefer (1997), her granddaughter Rosemary McCrae (1986), her sisters Elizabeth Parish and Syvilla Sample, her brothers Louis, Bud (John), William (Bill) and George Drummelsmith and her sister-in-law Delia Drummelsmith. Loretta was a valued member of Christ the King Church Catholic Women’s League, the Blenheim Senior Centre and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Friends may call at McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park St., Blenheim, on Friday, December 26, 2008 from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Windsor Victoria Memorial Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Loretta’s name to The Arthritis Society, The Canadian Cancer Society or the Blenheim Senior Centre would be appreciated by the family.
