Nissen; Johannes, a resident of Chatham. Johannes (John/Red) Nissen passed away January 5, 2009, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born December 14, 1927 in Denmark, only son of the late Anders & Lilly (Hermann) Nissen. John came to Canada in 1957 with his young family and worked as a Stone Mason-bricklayer until he retired in 1992. Beloved husband of 53 years to Jonna (Joanna) (Hvolby) Nissen. Dear father of Susan & Jack Grocott, Chatham; Jan & Deb Nissen , North Buxton; Sten Nissen, Blenheim; and Rick & Brenda Nissen, Chatham. Grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Brother of the late Grethe Simonsen, Ella (Andreas) Clausen and Leva Nissen, all of Denmark. Father-in-law of the late Sandra Ostrander-Nissen. Great Grandfather of the late Lochlynn Grocott. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Thursday January 8, 2009 from 2:00-4:30 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be conducted at the Funeral Home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
