Obituary of Eileen Weldon

WELDON (O’Neil): Eileen Mary. A resident of Chatham, Eileen Mary Weldon passed away at Residence on the Thames, Chatham, on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the age of 91. Predeased by husband Michael A. O’Neil (1944) and husband Richard James Weldon (2002). Born in Detroit on February 15, 1917, daughter of Roy A. and Eileen (Causgrove) O’Neill and granddaughter of Matthew and Annie Causgrove. Eileen was a graduate of The Pines and University of Western Ontario. She taught eight years in the Chatham separate school system, five years at Chatham Vocational School and C.K.S.S. (1963-1981). Eileen was a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association of Ontario and a life-long member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Chatham. She worked with the lay readers at St. Joseph’s Church for 30 years and was a member of St. Joseph’s C.W.L. for over 62 years. Eileen will be sadly missed by her daughters Mary Kathleen Lowy (Fred) of Montreal, Nancy Eichenberg (Jim) of Oakville, one son Michael O’Neil (Barbara) of Port Lambton, one step-daughter Peggy Frankish (Bill) of Gravenhurst and one stepson Patrick Weldon (Mary) of Chatham. Eileen was a proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by two sisters Marilyn Young of Detroit, Michigan, and Peggy Langan of Windsor. Eileen is predeceased by sisters Kathleen, Agnes, and Patsy, and brother Michael Toomey O’Neill. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday from 2:00-4:30 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 180 Wellington St. West, Chatham on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Chatham.
