LABADIE: Douglas A resident of Chatham, Doug Labadie died peacefully at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Sunday February 15, 2009 at the age of 79. Born in Chatham, son of the late Donald & Bertha (Richie) Labadie. Beloved husband of Ellen (Morrison) Labadie for 57 years. Loving father of Mark Labadie of Chatham, Bradley Labadie and his fiancée Chana of Guelph, and Michelle Elgie and her husband Brian of Chatham. Cherished grandfather of Nicole Labadie of London, Colin Labadie of Edmonton, Andrew Glenn Elgie of Chatham, Amanda McFadden (Andrew) of Chatham, Stephen Labadie, and Hannah Labadie, both of Bradford. Great grandfather of Skyler Breynaert-Elgie, Landden McFadden, Layla McFadden, and Brynna Labadie. Fondly remembered by his daughter-in-law Anita Labadie. Dear brother of James Labadie of Kingston, and the late Walter (June), Donald, Leslie (Audrey), William, and Gerald. Brother-in-law of Iris Labadie and Marie Labadie, both of Chatham, Jane Ives, Cecile See (Donald), Madonna Putch, and Lynn Richter, all of Michigan. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and a life member of Moose Lodge #1692. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 145 Victoria Avenue, Chatham on Thursday February 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Daniel Bombardier celebrant. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date. If desired, donations made to Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
