Ongena; Shirley Ann, a resident of R.R. #1, Thamesville. Shirley Ongena died Wednesday March 25, 2009 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham at the age of 53. Born in Chatham daughter of the late Garnet Joseph (1965) & Mary Theresa (Catton) (2004) Sterling. Beloved wife of Joseph M. Ongena. Dear mother of Michael & Sheri Ongena, Sault St. Marie and David & Natalie Ongena, Toronto. Proud Grandmother of 3 granddaughters, Riley, Madeline & Ella. Cherished Sister of Peggy & Alan Johns, Chatham; Sam & Karen Sterling, Blenheim; Rita VanDeven, Chatham and the late Barbara Sterling (2005) and Theresa Sterling (2006). Sister-in-law of Maureen & Brian Nettleton, Chatham; Jim Ongena, B.C.; Ken Ongena, Peterborough; Bonnie & Ron Lewsaw, Woodslee; Murray & Betty Ongena, Chatham; Glenn & Carolyn Ongena, Chatham; Don Flaglor, Chatham and the late Peggy Flaglor (2000). Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Special thanks is extended to Dr. Kathryn Bailey, all the medical staff and numerous volunteers. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Friday March 27, 2009 from 2:00-4:30 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow.
