Obituary of Joan Kemsley

KEMSLEY: Joan (nee Dennis). A resident of Chatham, Joan Kemsley passed away at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance- Sydenham Campus on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the age of 89. Born in Peterborough, England, daughter of the late Harold and Olive (nee Rawlings) Dennis. Joan was an English war bride, loving wife of 64 years to Alfred (Alf) Kemsley. Loving mother to Rodger of Port Franks and his best friend Alma Brown of Sarnia, Tom and his wife Nancy of Chatham. Cherished grandmother to Jennifer and Wayne Tellier of Tecumseh, Janet and Aaron Riesebois of Chatham, Todd and Rosana Kemsley of Tecumseh, and great-grandmother of 3. Joan is survived by her sister Eileen and Bill Graham of Birmingham, Alabama, and brothers Frank Dennis of England and Edward Dennis of Courtney, B.C. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Jane Kemsley (nee Allison). Joan was a former employee of the British Sugar Co. She co-owned Alf Kemsley The Rosery Florist Ltd. with her husband. She also was a former member of the Holy Trinity A.C.W. and the Chatham Organ Society. She spent many enjoyable years playing the organ at local nursing homes. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home 459 St. Clair St. Chatham on Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service to be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church 81 Selkirk St. Chatham at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Alan Knight officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
