BRAITHWAITE: John Earl, peacefully passed away at Riverview Gardens surrounded by his family in Chatham, Ontario in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Alice (Burke) Braithwaite, married 60 years. Predeceased by his parents, Fred and Margaret Braithwaite of Alvinston and survived by sister Fern, husband Gord Swan and brothers Ed, wife Edna and Derwood, wife Marilyn. Dear father of Linda and husband Neil Gemmell, Barrie and wife Sharon, Terry and wife Agathe, Bryan and wife Sherry and Cindy and husband Norm Dunlop. Treasured grandfather of fourteen, Becky, Jenny, Barbara, Cassie, Jessica, Chris, Kim, T.J., Lori, Jeff, Lindsay, Julie, Kelly and Lisa. Great-grandfather of eight, Joaquin, Stevie-Lee, Jack, Cole, Eric, Hannah, Brady and Avery. Aside from being a loving husband and father, John was an avid golfer, gardener and known as the “Candy Man” to his grandchildren. He was an employee of Bell Canada for 41 years. The Braithwaite family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Gardens for their dedication and for their loving and compassionate care to John for the past two years. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
