Obituary of H. Marjorie Carter

CARTER: Helen Marjorie A resident of Ridgetown, H. Marjorie Carter passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Tuesday May 26, 2009 at the age of 88. Born in Harwich Twsp., daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen (Burk) White. Dear mother of Barbara Scott and her husband Owen of Guelph. Loving grandmother of Rachael Scott of St. Catharines, Isaac Scott of Burlington and Daniel Scott of RobertÂ’s Creek B. C. Sister of the late Gordon White. Marjorie will be missed by her West Highland White Terrier, Rosie. She was a member of Erie Street United Church,Ridgetown. She retired from Ridgetown District High School as a Math Teacher and was an active volunteer in the Ridgetown Public School. Following her retirement, she worked on five overseas projects in Africa and South Pacific with the Retired Teachers Federation. She will be remembered by many children for her tutoring in Mathematics. Marjorie was a member of the Women's Division of the Royal Canadian Air Force and served from May 1943 to September 1945. A Cemetery Service of Remembrance will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery on June 6, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Judith Fayter of Erie Street United Church officiating. Memorial donations to honour Marjorie's life can be made to the Ovarian Cancer Canada. Funeral arrangement are entrusted to McKinlay Funeral Home, Ridgetown. (519-674-3141)
