Obituary of Shirley Spurgeon

SPURGEON: Shirley Margaret Gertrude Lorene (Merritt) – A Resident of Chatham, Shirley peacefully, with her children by her side, passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, in her 80th year. Beloved wife of 54 years to the late Gordon Charles. Loving mother of Carol Atkinson (Mike), Donna Lunn (Brian), Brian Spurgeon (Diane), Garry Spurgeon, and Diane Myers (Glen). Shirley was the proud grandmother of 11 and great grandmother of 14. Born in Pain Court, the daughter of the late Ivy & Nathaniel Merritt. She is predeceased by her brothers Ward and Glen Merritt. Shirley & Gord returned to Chatham after retiring from a life of service in the Armed Forces. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, on Friday, May 29, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 30 from the Funeral Home. Interment in St. Thomas Anglican Church Cemetery, Pain Court.
