GATES: Winnifred ‘Winnie’ Mary (nee Ash) A resident of Chatham, Winnie Gates died on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance, at the age of 85. Born in Chatham to the late Alexander & Gertrude (Williams) Ash. Beloved wife of the late J. Ronald Gates (1982). Loving mother of Nancy & Charlie Garneau of Elmira and Carol & Harvey Bondy of Chatham. Winnie will be remembered by her grandchildren John Garneau, Jacqueline Garneau, Michelle Bondy, and David Bondy; all at home. She is survived by her sister Marie O’Hara of Chatham and predeceased by sister Mavis Clingersmith and brothers in-law Orval Clingersmith and Red O’Hara. Winnie was an active member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church where she was also a member of the St. Paul’s A.C.W. and Altar Guild. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, on Friday, June 26, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service to be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. from the Funeral Home, with Rev. Kristen Oliver officiating. interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Donations made in memory of Winnie to the St. Paul’s Anglican Church are welcomed and appreciated by the family.
