Obituary of Beatrice Josephine Thompson

THOMPSON: Beatrice Josephine (nee Hanifan) A resident of Serenity in Blenheim, and formerly of Chatham, Beatrice Thompson, died peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2009, at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance at the age of 90 Born June 27, 1919 in Rollingdam NB, daughter of the late Edward & Josephine (Murphy) Hanifan. Beloved wife of the late Burton Alfred Thompson (1980). Dear mother of Joan Thompson of Chatham, Judy & the late Peter Quigly of Chatham, Edward & Barbara Thompson of Chatham, the late Kenwood & Jean Thompson, and the late Doreen Buzwah. Also missed by son in-law Lary Buzwah. Much loved grandmother of Debra Leclerc & Ron, Diana Brooks & Stockton, Margaret Ostapec & Michael, Kathleen Oliver & Brian, Michael Thompson & Megan, John Thompson & Mary, Douglas Thompson, Pamela Thompson-Smids & Fred, and Michelle Envoy & Daniel, the late Patricia Giroux, and the late Donald Thompson. Beatrice will be remembered by her 12 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, granddaughter in-law Janice Thompson, and grandson in-law Brian Giroux. She is survived by sisters Gwen Polansky of California, and Glady Austin of St. Stephen, NB. Predeceased by five brothers and five sisters. Beatrice came to Chatham from New Brunswick in 1953 and retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a 53 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 28, Chatham. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, on Sunday, July 5, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service to be conducted from the Funeral Home on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul McPhail officiating. Interment to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
