Goldhawk, Eberle, A resident of Ridgetown, died Wednesday July 15, 2009 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus at the age of 78. Born in Howard Township son of the late Albert James & Mary Ann (Eberle) Goldhawk. Beloved husband of Beth (Buchanan) and the late Nora Louise (Robertson) Goldhawk. Dear father of Kelly Ann & Pete MacMillan, R.R. #1, Ridgetown; Glen & Marny Goldhawk, Cloverdale, B.C.; and Susan Alberta & Rob Courchesne, Calgary, Alberta; Mary Beth & David Goodreau, Toronto; Doug & Susan Macdonald, London; Jon Macdonald, London and Ann & Tom Dixon, Chatham. Grandfather of Blaire, Kyle, Jessy, Clayton, Catherine, Alexandre, Lochlan, Liam, Lexi, Duncan, Martha, Ross, Atwood, Angus, Jessica and Emily. Great Grandfather of Tristan. Brother of Lyle & Margaret Goldhawk, Blenheim; Joe & Lois Goldhawk, Milton; and the late Frances Simpson; Mary Goldhawk; Edith Withers; Anna Hux; Ernest, William, Albert and Donald Goldhawk. Brother-in-law of Jean Goldhawk, Dorothy Hughes (Cam) and Marie Goldhawk. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Eb was a teacher for 35 years and 29 as a principal. For 21 years of his professional life he served as the Chairman for the County Speaking Contest. He was the President of the Ontario Principal’s Association in 1971 and a member of the Kent County Board of Education from 1991 to 1994. Eb was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Ridgetown for 53 years, serving as the president twice. He served as the Lieutenant Governor, Division 4 during 1986-87, and chairman of the Kiwanis Robarts Charity Golf Tournament for almost 20 years. In 1999 he received the prestigious George F. Hixson award. Eb was most instrumental in the organization of Ridgetown Minor Hockey , construction of the library, swimming pool and tennis courts, and a past member of the Ridgetown Planning Board. Eb is a member of the R.D.H.S. Hall of Excellence. Eb was an exceptional asset to the community of Ridgetown and will be sadly missed by all.
