Obituary of Edna Marie Everitt
Everitt, Edna Marie (nee Mitton) Edna passed away peacefully at Riverview Gardens in Chatham on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 98 years of age. Born in Ridgetown, May 9th, 1911 to Dorwood and Bertha (nee Misner) Mitton. She lived on the Mitton farm on the Ridge Road until 1962. Beloved wife of the late Andrew Everitt (1978) of Ridgetown. Loving mother of Lyn (William) Rion, Akron, Ohio; Andy(Brenda) Everitt, Chatham; Virginia Stevenson, Charing Cross; Sandra Swayze-Keenan(Larry) of Blenheim, and Bradley (Annette) Everitt, Thamesville. She will be sadly missed by her 15 grandchildren -Nicole, Heather and Lesley (Rion); Angelique, Allana and Alexis (Everitt); Elisa, Krista and Andrea (Stevenson); Ryan, Marc and Kris (Swayze); Jessica and Katie (Everitt) and Shawn Kelly. Edna was constantly delighted by her 18 great grandchildren, whom she enjoyed seeing regularly. Predeceased also by her brother Kencil Mitton; son-in-law Bruce Swayze; grandson Justin Everitt and infant great-grandson Joshua Stewart. Edna retired from teaching in 1976 after a lengthy association with the then Kent County School Board in the Ridgetown and Chatham area. She is fondly remembered by many of her former pupils. She was a long time member of the Eastern Star, the Couples Club at Victoria Ave United Church and at St Pauls Congregational Church. Edna will be remembered for her many kindnesses, her lady-like manner and her sweet smile. She will be greatly missed by her family. Friends and Relatives may call at the Funeral Home- 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Ednas life will be held on Friday, July 31, 2009. Family and friends are invited to gather at St Pauls Congregational Church, 450 Park Ave. W. Chatham any time after 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Margaret Moriyama officiating. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown. The family appreciates the long time support and prayers of St. Pauls Pastoral Staff and Congregation.
