Obituary of Hermine Brandner

BRANDNER: Hermine. Hermine Brandner passed away peacefully at “The Village” in Ridgetown, Ontario on Monday, August 31, 2009 at the age of 86. In 1954, Hermine joined the family of Mrs. Alice Percival (née Springsteen), the late Dr. Walter Percival and their daughters Marlee Robinson, Judith Newby, and the late Wendy Walsh. She arrived from Austria via England and Bermuda, becoming a proud Canadian in June 1966. Hermine shared the Percival family home and lives as housekeeper, friend, surrogate mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Regardless of the weather, she and her dogs could be seen walking through Walkerville with a hearty laugh and a smile for all. Hermine was well-read and even better travelled. She was an adventurer who knew not only the capitals of Europe but also the outreaches of the Arctic, Tibet, China, Africa and Egypt. Hermine will be missed by the Percivals, Tom Newby (Judith’s husband), Scott Robinson, Philip Walsh, Douglas Walsh, Charles Walsh and his fiancée Natalie, Catherine (Walsh) Wassmansdorf and her husband Gregg and their children Daniel and Emily. A graveside gathering to honour Hermine will take place on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Anglican Church, Morpeth. The family may be contacted at marlee@northrock.bm. Donations in Hermine’s name may be made to The Village, 9 Myrtle Street, Ridgetown, Ontario N0P 2C0. Arrangements entrusted to McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown, Ontario (519)674-3141.
