Obituary of Gerald Williams

WILLIAMS: Gerald “Jerry” Johnstone A resident of Raleigh Township, Jerry Williams, has been re-united with his parents Oliver “Red” and Jean (Johnstone) Williams on September 24, 2009 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Jerry came into this world on June 20, 1943 and has left us too early after a lengthy battle with a debilitating disease. He leaves behind his friend and beloved wife of 38 years, Sally (Sarah Lougheed); father, mentor and coach to Ted (Rachel), Dan (Jamian), Penny (Dennis Provost) and Brad (Sarah). Papa to Doulton, Taylor, Kailee, Sydney, Logan, Connor, Wyatt and Raleigh – all of Raleigh Township. Survived by a brother Merritt of Watford and predeceased by sisters Connie and Marilyn. Jerry farmed all his life in Raleigh Township. He was warden of St. Thomas Anglican Church in Dover. He served on the Ontario Corn, Wheat and Soybean Boards and was on the Board of Directors at Heritage Credit Union. Jerry was very involved in his children’s life by coaching hockey and ringette and by teaching them to hoe beans and pick up stones. Now for eternity he will be eyeing that moose up north, dancing until dawn and playing cards with the best of them and having that never ending crop tour. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St, Chatham. A Funeral Service will be held from St. Thomas Anglican Church, River Rd, Dover Township, on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Donations to the St. Thomas Anglican Church or the CKHA, Medical Unit are appreciated.
