Obituary of Ruby Frances Smith

SMITH: Ruby Frances (nee Elder)- A resident of Chatham, Ruby Smith passed away at Copper Terrace Nursing Home on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the age of 90. Born in Dresden to her late parents John and Rosa Elder. Predeceased by her husband Edwin Gordon Smith (2007). Mother to Sandra Dale Cole (nee Garrison) of Brock, Saskatchewan, Karen Beth Sinclair of London and the late Larry Clayton Garrison (1999). Proud grandmother of Blake Cole, Colleen Suther, Laurel Cole and Mark Cole of British Columbia and Erin Cole of Saskatchewan. Great-grandmother of five great-grandchildren. Survived by her sisters Phyllis Jarvis of Guelph and Dorothy St Pierre of Windsor. Predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Hugh Elder, Irene Maki, Rose Antaya, Freda Squires, Vera Parsons, Mildred Zimmerman and Donald Elder. Ruby was an active member at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 100 McNaughton Avenue West, Chatham, on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Andrew Martin officiating. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery. Donations made on behalf of Ruby to the Emmanuel Baptist Church or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
