Gawne: M. Austin. A resident of R.R. # 3 Ridgetown, Morley Austin Gawne passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Tuesday January 5, 2010 at the age of 72 years. Born in Chatham son of the late Morley and Violet (Osborne) Gawne. Beloved husband of Shirley A. (Marchand) Gawne. Dear father of Gregory and Laura Gawne of Ridgetown, Barbara and Rick Peltier, and Jeff Gawne & Cathy Stonefish of Shrewsbury. Grandfather of JoDee and Derek Desangher, Michelle Peltier & fiance Patrick Savage, Dustin & Amanda Gawne, Gillian & Bryan Pollard, Jocelyn, Kelsey, Brooke and Stephanie Gawne. Great-grandfather of Camryn, Paiton, Caiden, Kadian, Addlyn, Lynnly & Lola. Brother of Harley and Sandra Gawne of R.R. # 2 Ridgetown, Carol and Bob Stewart of Beeton, Paul and Eileen Gawne of Whitby, Lynda and Ross Goldhawk of R. R. # 1 Morpeth and the late Peter Gawne (1990). Also missing him will be his faithful friend Bellow. Austin was a retired heavy equipment operator. He had been very involved in Ridgetown Minor Hockey having served on the executive, as a coach and as a manager. He was the co-founder of the Ridgetown Ground Hog Tournament. He served in the Canadian Army and was a member of the Ridgetown Canadian Legion. The family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Thursday from 2:00-4:30 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Friday, January 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Horrobin of Wallaceburg officiating.
