Obituary of David Nixon

NIXON: David Douglas A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Windsor, David Nixon passed away peacefully at the age of 92, with his family by his side, on Monday, June 28, 2010, at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance. Born in London England, son of the late David & Kathleen (Fenton) Nixon. Beloved husband of 68 years to Alice (Charvill) Nixon. Dear father of Paul & Colleen Nixon of Chatham, Joanne & John Rozeluk of London, Carol & William Jamieson of Erieau, and David Jr. & Yoko Nixon of Leeds England. Proud grandfather of 7 and great grandfather of 6. David served in the Italian Campaign during WWII. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 185 in Blenheim and Branch 255 in Windsor. David was a high school history teacher in Windsor for many years. He became the head of the history department at C.K.S.S. the year it opened in the early 1960’s, and continued teaching there until his retirement, 33 years ago. He was also a longtime member of the Ontario Teacher’s Federation. A family memorial service will be held at Christ Church at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Donations made in memory of David to the Canadian Diabetes Association are welcomed and appreciated by the family.
