Obituary of Wm. Charles Day

Day: William Charles “Charlie”, A resident of Chatham, Charlie Day passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus at the age of 84. Born in Toronto on May 5, 1926, to the late Joseph and Ellen (Jones) Day. Loving husband of Charlotte (Ramsdale) Day where they shared 61 years of marriage. Dear father to Ellen Marie and Gerry Zimmer of Chatham. Proud grandfather to Kimberly Zimmer and her husband Glen Post of Chatham, Jeremy Zimmer (Yvette) of Windsor, Jarrod (Lorna) of London. Brother of Joseph and Agnes Day of Chatham and brother-in-law of Jack Ryan of California. Charlie will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Lenard Charles Day and his wife Grace. Also predeceased by his sister Lorraine Ryan. Charlie was the previous owner of Community Cleaners in Chatham. He also drove a Cab for Courtesy Cab for over 30 years. Charlie was also a member of the Free Masons. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St. Chatham on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Mark Soto officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Memorial donations to honour Charlie’s life can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation and would be appreciated by the family.
