Obituary of Robert E. 'Bob' Van Goethem

VAN GOETHEM: Robert E. “Bob” – A resident of Highgate, Bob Van Goethem, after a brave and determined fight with cancer passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the age of 31. Born in Chatham, Bob was the son of Rene and Janey (McGaffey) Van Goethem. Beloved husband of Sarah (Teetzel) Van Goethem. Loving father of Kirsten, Kael and Scarlett. Deeply missed by his brother Brian Van Goethem and his wife Daloni of Chatham. Son-in-law to Ted and Dawn Teetzel of Bothwell. Brother-in-law to Kate and Anson Boak of Highgate. Proud uncle of Sayward, Grace, Liam, Padraich and Ivan. Bob was a Volunteer Firefighter in Highgate before joining the Chatham-Kent Fire Department in 2006 where he served as a First Class Firefighter at the Chatham-Kent Fire Department, Station #1 in Chatham. Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street E., Ridgetown on Sunday from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Rudy H. Brown Rural Development Centre at the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Derek Parry officiating. Cremation to follow.
