Obituary of Joyce Huitema

Huitema, Joyce, a resident of Chatham. Joyce Huitema died Sunday October 17, 2010 at Copper Terrace Nursing Home, Chatham at the age of 99. Joyce was born in Suameer (Fr.) The Netherlands in 1911 daughter of the late Eelke Cornelius & Baukje (Jelsma) Spoor. She came to Canada with her husband and children in 1953. They settled in the Chatham area where her husband was employed as a mechanic by Chatham Coach Lines until his retirement. They lived on the Bloomfield Road for almost 30 years and celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 1995 approx. 7 months before her husband passed away. Joyce was a member of First Reformed Church since she came to Canada. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Huitema (1995). Dear mother of Betty Huitema, Chatham; Emelly & George Boersma, Ridgetown and Helen & Sidney Six, Des Moines, Iowa. Grandmother of Chris (Aileen); Mark (Wilma); David (Jeanne); Anita (Jeff); Ben (Mindy); Celeste (Travis) and Candice (Curt) and 20 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandson. Joyce was one of 13 children of which all have predeceased. Also predeceased by 2 grandchildren. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Tuesday October 19, 2010 from 3:00-5:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Reformed Church, 632 Lacroix St., Chatham with Rev.
