Obituary of Donald Joseph LaMarsh

LaMarsh: Donald Joseph - A resident of R.R. #1 Pain Court, Don LaMarsh passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance-Chatham Campus on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the age of 75. Born in Chatham, son of the late Roy and Elizabeth (nee Blair) LaMarsh. Loving husband of 55 years to Patricia LaMarsh (nee Jubenville). Father to their pet cat “Lucky” and predeceased by his many hunting Labrador Retrievers. Don is survived by his three sisters; Bernice Doughty (Ted), “Cookie” Mildred O’Brien (Peter), Linda VanDeKerckhove (late Bob) all of Chatham. Don is also survived by his brothers; Delmer LaMarsh (Mary) and Leonard LaMarsh (late Sandi). Predeceased by his sister Bonnie Robbins. He will also be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. Don was a former employee of Yardley Plastics. For ten years he owned and operated, along with his wife Pat, the Central Tavern in Pain Court. He also was the owner and manager of Thames River Hunt Club. Don was an avid hunter and fisherman and found great peace being amongst nature. He was also affectionately known by his colleagues as Diamond “D”. Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St. Chatham on Wednesday, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Daniel Bombardier officiating. Cremation to follow with interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to honour Don’s life can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Palliative Care or a charity of your choice and would be appreciated by the family.
