Obituary of Maria E. 'Mary' Szucs

Szucs: Maria E. (nee Salenbien) “Mary”, A resident of R.R. #8 Chatham, Mary Szucs died suddenly at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance-Chatham Campus on Friday, January 7, 2011 at the age of 78. Born in Chatham, daughter of the late Alphonse and Hermenise (nee VanMassenhove) Salenbien. Loving wife for 58 years to Joseph Szucs. Dear mother to Judy Rankin and her husband Scott, Michael Szucs and his wife Annette. Predeceased by her daughter Barbara Badiuk and her husband Ken. Proud grandmother to Kelly Hart, Erin Roy, Katherine Lacina, Jeffrey Rankin, Amanda Szucs, Matthew Szucs, and Stephanie Badiuk as well as 6 great-grandchildren. Pre-deceased by 2 great-grandchildren. Mary is predeceased by her brother Ben Salenbien (Mae) and her sister Elizabeth Serruys (George). Mary was active with the family farm before her retirement. She found great joy in bowling and playing cards especially at the Casino. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St. Chatham on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Catholic Womens League Prayers will b e held at 3:00 p.m. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 10, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 145 Victoria Ave. Chatham, at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Daniel Bombardier officiating. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Chatham.
