Obituary of Mary Peters

PETERS, Mary Frances A resident of Chatham, Mary Peters, passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Sunday, January 16, 2011 one day after a celebration to honour her 100th birthday. Cherished wife to the late Carman Peters (1984). Mary & Carman married in 1931 and were lifelong residents of Ridgetown, Wallaceburg, and Dresden, where Carman managed the Greenmelk Plant, and Mary worked at the Sears Order office for many years. Cherished mother to the late Margaret Greenleaf (1995), Robert & Margaret Peters of Burnaby, B.C., and Jim & Sandra Peters of Stoney Creek. Forever missed by her grandchildren Candace, Ryan, Marsha, Shea, Bradley, Paul, Sarah, and 7 great-grand grandchildren. Loved by many nieces, nephews, her guardian angel and cousin Carol Hannon, as well as Betty Smith who offered their support and friendship. Predeceased by siblings Margaret Marks, Matthew Emerson, and Robert Emerson. Mary was a member of St. Paul’s Congregational Church where she established new and lasting friendships, she enjoyed knitting, quilting, playing competitive scrabble and card games. Her bright smile, legendary memory, and love for friends will be missed by many. Special thanks to the staff at Caleb Village, CKHA, and Dr. Bailey. Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday from 3:00-5:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at St. Paul’s Congregational Church on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Dresden, Cemetery.
