Obituary of Bertha Emilie Allemeersch

ALLEMEERSCH: Bertha Emilie (nee Dejonghe)- A resident of Ridgetown, Bertha Allemeersch went to the arms of her Lord and Saviour and to be with the love of her life, her late husband Francis Allemeersch (2010). Bertha passed peacefully while surrounded by her family on Friday, February 18, 2011 at The Village Retirement Residence in Ridgetown in her 81st year. Bertha is sadly missed by her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Max Hoffman of Springfield, Ontario, Yvonne and Gord Woods of Bothwell, Ontario, Linda and Dennis Galbraith of Nairn, Ontario and her only son Francis Jr. of Chatham. Also deeply loved and sadly missed by grandchildren, Sylvia Hoffman, Tim, Liza and Jennifer Woods, Jessica and Jeffery Galbraith and great-grandson Austin Woods. Bertha is survived by her sisters and brother Marie and Joe Korpan of Chatham, Jeannie Havens of Harwich Twsp., Firmin and Diane Dejonghe of Chatham and Anna and Jack Ternoey of Blenheim. Predeceased by her parents Firmin & Anna (Horak) Dejonghe, her sister Margaretha Kucera and her brother-in-law Lucien Havens. Also missed by her brother-in-law Adolf Kucera and by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Bertha was very committed to her family and enjoyed her time with her friends at the Village in Ridgetown. She was a long-time member of St Michael’s Parish and a lifetime member of T.O.P.S. Family to receive friends at the Funeral Home, 76 Main St E., Ridgetown on Tuesday, from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Parish prayers to be held on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 26 George St, Ridgetown on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Martin Johnston celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Donations made in memory of Bertha to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the family.
