Obituary of Christine Adkin

ADKIN: Mary "Christine". Mary "Christine" Adkin passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 11, 2011 at the age of 75 years at the I.C.U. of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus. Dear daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (McLennan) Stenton. Survived by Raymond, her beloved husband for over 53 years, and her loving children Kathy and Allan. Cherished honourary grandparent of Luke and Erin Jackson. Predeceased by her loving sister Katherine Weed and survived by her brother-in-law Alan Weed. Sister-in-law of George and Marilyn Adkin of Dresden. Christine is also survived by several special cousins. Christine lived her entire life on the family farm at Charing Cross. She had worked at the Bank of Montreal and Bell Canada before starting to raise her family and manage the farm. She was a valued member of the Charing Cross United Church and was an active member of the U.C.W. She served on many Church committees, especially helping with the Turkey Pie Project for many years. She was also an avid genealogist and had authored a 300-year history of her Stenton family and was nearing completion of her McLennan family history. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park Street, Blenheim on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Charing Cross United Church on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with The Rev. Dr. Margaret Trapnell officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Charing Cross United Church "General Fund".
