Obituary of John David Ramsdale

A resident of the Chatham Retirement Resort, John Ramsdale passed away on Monday, April 18, 2011 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 79. Born in Chatham, son of the late Robert and Lillian Ramsdale, and son-in-law of the late Harvey and Mazey Johnson. Beloved husband of Donna (Johnson) Ramsdale for 55 years. Cherished father of David and Carol Ramsdale of Dorchester, Cathy Ramsdale and Mike Polowick of Chatham, and Gregory and Anne Marie Ramsdale of Sarnia. Beloved grandfather of Robert and Nicole; Nathan, Angela, and Joseph; and Kristen and Colby. Dear brother-in-law of Dr. Samuel Smith of Chatham. Predeceased by his sister Jean Smith. John will be fondly remembered by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and their families. John was a member of the 4H Club, Junior Farmers, the Kent-Historical Auto Club, and the Historical Doll and Toy Club. Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 with Bob McCall officiating. Cremation with interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of John to the Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated by the family.
