Obituary of Peter Van Hyfte

VAN HYFTE, Peter; A resident of Tilbury for 50 years, Peter Edward Van Hyfte, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 78. Born in Chatham, son of the late Cyril & Elizabeth Van Hyfte. Beloved husband for 57 years to Joan Van Hyfte (nee De Hoey). Loving father to Nancy & Brad Crawford of Chatham, Beth & Darren Wood of Essex, and the late Bill Van Hyfte (1987). Cherished grandfather to Justin Phipps (Bobbie Lynn), Chris Knister, Ryan Phipps (Sara), Brandon Van Hyfte, and Ashley Knister. Brother-in-law of Eva Chevalier and her husband the late Clare, the late Jack & Barb De Hoey, Jim & Joanne De Hoey, the late Ed De Hoey and his wife Elizabeth, Pat & Allan Kay, Rick & Diana De Hoey, the late Wendy Brooks and her husband David, and Cindy & Wayne Morris. Forever missed by many nieces & nephews, and his precious dog Tooty. Peter was a master craftsman who loved the north and fishing. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Tilbury.
