Obituary of Isabel Young

YOUNG, Isabel Mabel – A resident of Ridgetown, Isabel Mabel Young passed away peacefully on July 15, 2011 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus. She was born August 13, 1917 in Ottawa to Mabel (Owens) and Cedric Goddard. She was preceded in death by her husband Bert Young, her son Gord, her parents and three of her four siblings. She is survived by her sister Muriel Belyea and her children, Jill (the late Doug) Varnell, Mary (Gary) McFadden, Jane (John) Eadinger, John Young, Rick (Wendy) Young, 15 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great, Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Isabel’s youth was spent in Ottawa and following highschool, she attended college at MacDonald Institute in Guelph where she earned a diploma in Home Economics. It was in Guelph where she met the love of her life, Bert. They lived in Kemptville, Moosejaw, Chatham and their final home was the farm in Ridgetown. During her years on the farm, Isabel went back to school so she could work at the Hospital in Cedar Springs. Her experiences there were extremely rewarding to her. She lived on the farm until four years ago when she moved to the Village, Ridgetown, where she began yet another chapter of her amazing life. During the past few years our Mother has not been a consistent supporter of specific organized causes that extended beyond the confines of her family and friends. In her Memory and in lieu of flowers, her family suggests a simple contribution of love and generosity toward one’s own family and friends. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, Ridgetown on Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Bonnie Harvey officiating and Mrs. Bev Fuller presiding at the piano.
